{"id":236,"date":"2014-08-26T22:42:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-26T22:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/diane.eklund.abolins.net\/blog\/index.php\/2014\/08\/26\/the-kings-speech-by-mark-logue-and-peter-conradi\/"},"modified":"2019-12-31T08:16:57","modified_gmt":"2019-12-30T21:16:57","slug":"the-kings-speech-by-mark-logue-and-peter-conradi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diane.eklund.abolins.net\/blog\/the-kings-speech-by-mark-logue-and-peter-conradi\/","title":{"rendered":"The King&#8217;s Speech by Mark Logue and Peter Conradi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"LEFT\" style=\"font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\">This book, based on letters and diaries, is a good complement to the film, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_King%27s_Speech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i>The King&#8217;s Speech<\/i><\/a><i>, <\/i><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">filling in a lot of the background to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kingsspeech.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">film<\/a>; however, Lionel&#8217;s tendency to fawn over his &#8216;betters&#8217;, especially the Queen Mother, does at times become both irritating and even embarrassing<\/span><i>. <\/i><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">T<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">he book was written and published after the film was made<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">, and, while<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"> the film concentrates on a very short period in the lives of Lionel Logue (speech therapist) and King George VI, the book attempts to give a reasonably detailed picture of the lives of both men.
