Although the book has been translated to Swedish, I have not yet found any reference to an English translation (although many of Indridason&#8217;s earlier books have already been translated). When the book is finally translated to English, it could well be given a completely different name.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"LEFT\" style=\"font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"LEFT\" style=\"font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">This is a tale of loss, revenge and murder set against the <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">very prominent <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">harshness of an Icelandic winter. I felt that Indridason managed to sustain a certain air of suspense throughout the book, with the reader knowing vaguely what may have happened but not exactly why or how. However, that said, I also felt that much of the story was built on a mixture of co<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">&#8211;<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">incidence and <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">the, at times, extremely strange <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">actions <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">of<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">the main character, Erlendur<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">which, in any normal situation, would have been considered bizarrely outside the law.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"LEFT\" style=\"font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"LEFT\" style=\"font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">Although descriptions of the harsh landscape and even the characters themselves <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">a<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">re well-rounded, giving a good background to the story, Erlendur&#8217;s obsessive <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">concentration on things that ha<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">ve<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">absolutely nothing to do with him <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">i<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">s, at times, quite disturbing. The ending, though vaguely hint<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">ed<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">at in the beginning of the book, <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">i<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">s, I felt, slightly out of sync with the book as a whole. Easy to read.
