Set in the late 10th century, it mixes Vikings, Muslims and Christians into an exciting and fast-moving tale which begins with the main character, Orm Tostesson, known as R\u00f6de Orm (Red Snake) &#8211; because of his hair colour and his temperament &#8211; being kidnapped by Vikings. During the journey south, he becomes friends with his captors but is later captured by Muslims. Covering many countries, <i>R\u00f6de Orm<\/i><i>, <\/i>is a book that sheds a small light on what life might have been like more than one thousand years ago.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0cm;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0cm;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-GXTx4JF0cQQ\/VKxvYefJsvI\/AAAAAAAAB3U\/x_IYT5FtTAY\/s1600\/bengtsson.jpeg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-GXTx4JF0cQQ\/VKxvYefJsvI\/AAAAAAAAB3U\/x_IYT5FtTAY\/s1600\/bengtsson.jpeg\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">When asked why he wrote <i>R\u00f6de Orm<\/i><i>, <\/i><span style=\"font-style: normal;\">Frans G. Bengtsson<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"> said that he had no literary ambitions with the book, instead, he wanted to write something that was interesting<\/span>. In 2016, the book is being adapted as a film by the Danish producer Peter Aalb\u00e6k Jensen.
