The teacher and the children all belong to the Jewish congregation in Stockholm; the story itself spreads across Stockholm, London and Israel.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\" style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"> <\/div>\n<div align=\"left\" style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">The last few pages of the Swedish version is filled with accolades from the Swedish press \u2013 if one is to believe what they have written, there has never been a smarter, more exciting novel within the genre.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\" style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"> <\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-cRyqO6BVbT8\/VyfUCg4w6qI\/AAAAAAAACU8\/n7LaYtidE_Ai4lCER-NBO9FjQmUbK5R-ACLcB\/s1600\/ohlsson.jpeg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-cRyqO6BVbT8\/VyfUCg4w6qI\/AAAAAAAACU8\/n7LaYtidE_Ai4lCER-NBO9FjQmUbK5R-ACLcB\/s1600\/ohlsson.jpeg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div align=\"left\" style=\"font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 200%; margin-bottom: 0cm; text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">It is, therefore, with some trepidation that I beg to disagree. I feel that the novel is engaging, and the author has done a fantastic job, holding together the many, many threads that unwind from the central theme \u2013 it cannot have been easy \u2013 but the reader is obliged to accept many twists and turns that, quite often, defy <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">many of<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">the laws of logic \u2013 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">political, social and physical. There is also, especially in the first part of the book, too many references to events that have most probably occurred in earlier books (I believe that<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i><span style=\"background: transparent;\">Davidsstj\u00e4rnorna <\/span><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">is Kristina Ohlsson&#8217;s sixth book). Although this kind of <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">filling-in<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">is common in books that are part of a series, it <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">can be irritating, especially if the reader has not read any of the earlier books.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">Yet, in spite of the fact that the main characters have now lived through several books, they are flat and, for me at least, completely unsympathetic.
