Now in the far corner of the state, walking from place to place in search of odd jobs, occasionally picking up a lift and all the time<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">camping rough,<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">he swings between mild irritation at <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\">having to<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><i> <\/i>take care of Buster, and a very possessive and deep love of the child &#8211; a love which he is not always able to articulate.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0cm;\" align=\"left\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0cm;\"><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">Though written in the vernacular, it is in no way forced or artificial but manages to beautifully capture a period of Australia&#8217;s past<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">that possibly <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">no longer exists. The many characters Macauley meets<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">are<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">nuanced and realistic, blending<i> <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\">well<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">with<i> <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\">observant<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"> descriptions of the Australian outback.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\"> Definitely a book worth reading.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%; margin-bottom: 0cm;\"><i><span style=\"font-variant: normal;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: none;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial' , sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><span style=\"background: transparent;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 150%;
